PROPOSALS TABLED [please contact Brice Smith ([email protected])]
EST 100 Introduction to Environmental Studies (tabled 6-0-0)
Please indicate the change in frequency code from B to A in the check box on the first page of the form.
Please clarify the last sentence in the justification. We presume that it means that the course is already offered every semester?
Please include a course outline for this class including all of the required information from the Curriculum Change guide on page 17.
Please request comments on the proposed change from all affected departments and programs including the coordinator of the Environmental Science Concentrations. The programs where EST 100 is listed include:
 Biology: Concentration in Environmental Science
Business Economics: Concentration in Environmental Management
Childhood Education (1-6)
Conservation Biology
Environmental and Outdoor Education Minor
General Education
Geographic Information Systems
Geology: Concentration in Water Resources
International Studies: Disciplinary concentration in International Health
Outdoor Recreation
Physics: Concentration in Environmental Science
BIO 507 Advanced Studies in Field Natural History (tabled 6-0-0)
Please add and Conservation Biology Majors to the course restrictions statement on the first page of the form to be consistent with your course description.
Please clarify whether or not undergraduate students will be allowed to take this course. All of the justification statements are focused on graduate students and we note the existence of the undergraduate course 307. If you intend to exclude undergraduates from the proposed course as a result, please change its number to a 6XX number. If you do not intend to exclude undergraduates from the proposed course please rewrite the justification sections to include the justification of that decision as well.
On the course outline for the proposed BIO 507 please copy the updated course description from the form including the frequency code.
On the course outline for both the proposed BIO 507 and the existing BIO 307, please include a clearer statement of course goals and objectives focusing more on student learning outcomes (see the Curriculum Change guide page 17 for the required elements of a course outline.)
You have a minor typo in the course outline for the proposed BIO 507 under the heading Skills & Reminders for Developing Professional Power Point Slides. In the fifth bullet it should read If you use animations, choose animations not If you use animations, chose animations.
